Overview

Resistance: Fall of Man was a launch title for the Sony Playstation 3, developed by Insomniac Games. Resistance has been seen as the single title that saved Playstation 3's debut in November 2006 from being a complete failure. Resistance is a First Person Shooter and follows the alternate reality storyline of US Military Ranger, Sergeant Nathan Hale, as he and US forces travel to 1951 England, which has been overrun buy a species known as the Chimera. Nathan Hale dramatically survives their ill-fated mission while every one of the men in his squadron are killed by Chimera. How he survived, and how he is able to carry on fighting is only a small part of the mysterious story that is Resistance: Fall of Man.

Resistance: Fall of Man still garners an impressive following even today. Critical response when Resistance: Fall of Man initially released was very high among players and reviewers alike. It was hailed as a great display of the future of the Playstation 3 will offer, and a worthy first person shooter which easily stood up to some of the more recognised franchises in the genre. One of the most common criticisms of Resistance was it's lack of an online co-op mode, but that hasn't stopped the online space from enjoying vast quantites of success.
