Resistance 2 Online

Resistance 2 will have a vastly different online mode than that previously seen in Resistance: Fall of Man. The most notable difference will be the ability to have 60 players all playing in the same game, whereas the previous maximum was significantly lower. It will also be the biggest experience available on any console to date.

60 Man Multiplayer

Ted Price has frequently stressed that the 60 man multiplayer option will not just be a complete free-for-all. While there will be two teams, these two teams will be divided up into lots of smaller teams. These smaller teams will all be given different objectives and will consist of maybe 5-6 people. They will always have a rival team that is trying to achieve an object that counters their own. Sometimes there may be objects to support allied teams, and other times there might be objects which all teams become involved with.

Different Classes

Resistance 2 will support a class system. The classes known so far are the Medic, Heavy Weapons and Special Ops classes. These will also be open to usage in the online co-operative mode.

Chimera Are Back

As with Resistance: Fall of Man, the Chimera will be once again making a return to online play. No doubt their abilities will be tweaked from that of the first game, but no information has been disclosed about any abilities they may have yet.

Scoring System

The scoring system in Resistance 2 has been heavily tweaked. Players will get a much more "true" score now, as there will be no set figure for assists. Points are awarded based on how much damage is done to an opponent, with an extra bonus being given if a kill is also achieved.
