First Resistance 2 Impression

(Posted: 07/05/2008) - Ram

Yesterday's PlayStation Day gaming event featured a Resistance 2 multi-player demo. The press got to play and try it out for the first time, and good impressions aren't late to come. GameSpot's article is very detailed, and is recommended to read.

Here's a summary of what Gamespot found out, we got confirmation that the online would be going from 40 to 60 players, and they demonstrated a multiplayer game with a 45 player limit, a rather large map called Scotia based in a forest area seems to have some emphasis on logging in terms of the vehicles and buildings in the area.

With the new 60 players online idea they explained a little about how this becomes less chaotic with the introduction of better squad tactics, and how there will be more or less rivalries on a map, which sounds like there will be multiple teams and battles going on but you'll pretty much stick to killing a particular group of people. They couldn't really elaborate any more on this at this moment in time. But it is apparent that Insomniac are trying to build on the squad idea of working as a team. With various objectives to compete in games. The game-mode they staged was all about advancing to control points on the level, with secondary objectives to back up other squads.

A new type of shield technology was displayed two forms, one which centres around the front of your character and the other which is deployed as a static shield.

They also mentioned visually its noticeable better than the first. Ted Price also mentioned about a revamp of myresistance.net what exactly they have in mind is yet to be discovered but they hinted at being inspired by facebook.

There still isn't a firm release date, but Gamespot offered some comfort by adding that its looking relatively polished in its current form.
